These two-hour sessions will comprise an hour’s power session with Essex Marketing Services’ founder Clare Martin revealing her top tips for marketing success for the topic and then an hour’s marketing clinic. Attendees will be able to ask Clare questions about other areas of marketing in this session.
There will also be the opportunity for you you network during the session with other like-minded small business owners.

Introduction to SEO – Wednesday 24th April 1pm-3pm
What is SEO (search-engine optimisation)? How does Google decide to rank you? What can you do to improve your SEO? Find out how to make sure your website shows up in Google searches, both using keywords and making sure your website performance is as good as possible
Ideal Clients and Creating a Marketing Strategy – Thursday 2nd May 12.30pm-2.30pm
What are ideal clients and why are they so important? How can you make sure you’ve identified your ideal clients for more effective targeting? This session will also help you understand how to create a marketing plan and target people on the marketing platforms they use to increase engagement and sales.
Branding – what makes a memorable brand? – Wednesday 8th May 1pm-3pm
What is included in a brand? How can you make sure your customers recognise you? It will include advice on logo design, typography, colours, photography and tone of voice. It will also touch upon social media branding, such as creating a consistent grid on Instagram and brand image on Facebook.
Engaging Ideal Clients on Facebook – Thursday 16th May 12.30pm-2.30pm
How can you build engagement on Facebook? This session covers both pages and groups, plus building your following and converting page likers to loyal customers. Also, how can you engage in conversation with new ideal clients using Facebook as a primary marketing platform?
Starting Instagram from scratch – Wednesday 22nd May 1pm-3pm
For those who are yet to start an Instagram account or are unsure where to go after setting up an account, this session will go back to basics, explaining why it’s good to have an Instagram account, how to set it up, connect to your Facebook and dos and don’ts when using it to engage customers.
Engaging Ideal Clients on Instagram – Thursday 6th June 12.30pm-2.30pm
For more advanced Instagram users, this session will look at ways of building momentum, including creating targeted content, refining your grid, using hashtags to gain more engagement and focusing on content and the story. We’ll also explore Instagram algorithms, IGTV and Instagram Stories.
An introduction to blogging – Wednesday 19th June 1pm-3pm
What is blogging and why should you do it? How often should you blog, what should you do with the blogs and how can you make more time to blog? We’ll also explore content ideas, how to find them and how to outreach to publications to extend your blogging strategy and build backlinks to your website using the power of words.
Pinterest – what it is and how to use it in your marketing strategy – Thursday 27th June 12.30pm-2.30pm
What is Pinterest, why should you be using it and how can you build a Pinterest following? What content should you include, how should you post to Pinterest and how should you organise your content? Although it’s lacking behind Facebook and Instagram in popularity, it really is vital for some brands – is yours one of them that should be using it as your core marketing strategy?
Introduction to Website Design – Wednesday 3rd July 1pm-3pm
Why should you have a website? An introduction to website platforms and what’s involved in website design. We’ll talk about the pros and cons of WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, Weebly and bespoke builds , costs involved in each and development complexity to help you make the right decision about which way to go.
WordPress Web Development – Thursday 11th July 12.30pm-2.30pm
For those who want to create their own website, this will include some basics to get up and running on WordPress. I’ll use the OceanWP theme and Elementor page builder to show you how to set up and get creating new pages that look good and perform well. Also suitable as a refresher to our existing website design clients!
